The most common Techron product that I see in auto parts stores and at my local Costco is the Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner. I use this cleaner in my 2012 Carrera S with Direct Fuel Injection. cleaning fuel system and engine are 2 different things. the only proven things to clean fuel system are polyetheramine (PEA, an active ingredient in Techron) and various solvents (active ingredients in B12). there are peer review articles on PEA and CR did a study on B12. as for the engine cleaning, any engine flush will do it Techron is an effective fuel system cleaner for fuel level sensors in particular. Corvettes have had problems with the sensors because gas typically sits in the tank for periods of time without driving. The sensors are effected by the sulfur in gasoline and Techron will help mitigate issues

The better fuel cleaner additives (e.g. techron concentrate and there are others) are usually formulated for engine/intake valve/combustion chamber cleaning as well as injectors . Spend the ten bucks or whatever and go get some beer or a sandwich or something. The exception is Chevron Techron. As far as I know, this is the only fuel system additive approved by OEMs like Ford, BMW, Toyota and Honda I think

That said, I've done many used oil analysis after shock treating with Techron or Redline SI-1 and have never seen any degradation in the oil I could attribute to the cleaner. The UOAs look no different than those done without a fuel system cleaner. I think the operative parameter here is your driving during the treated tank I currently switch between 87 and 93 Costco, a top tier fuel. I don't notice any major differences, I just use the premium for the additive package. Chevron, for instance, puts their Techron fuel system cleaner in all their auto fuel. But, at what concentration? One PPM, for instance, won't do a lot of cleaning..

Also, every oil change (3K miles) I toss in a large bottle of Chevron's fuel system cleaner with the techron additive. I've gone these routes with my Magnum SRT-8, Ram SRT-10 and now with the Challenger SRT-8 I buy Techron Fuel Injection Cleaner by the box at Costco and use it in my FI bikes and cars.
